US museum removes 2 Palestinians from journalists memorial

A US museum has been pressured into excluding the names of two deceased Palestinian journalists from its memorial ceremony honoring fallen correspondents, Press TV reports.

Pro-Israeli groups were successful in persuading the Newseum museum to drop the names of Hussam Salama and Mahmoud al-Kumi — two al-Aqsa cameramen — from its Journalists Memorial ceremony held in Washington D.C. on Monday.

The two were excluded from a list of 82 other reporters, correspondents and cameraman who died while delivering news from conflict areas.

Salama and al-Kumi were killed during an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip on November 20.

“Actually, I think a cameraman looks like a soldier in the war. But, the difference: the soldier supports the government, but the cameraman shows the true point of war,” said Mohammad Salah, an Iraqi photographer.

Free speech advocates criticized the move, which was brought on by Jewish groups and conservatives who said that al-Aqsa is run by Hamas - a terrorist group that threatens the Israeli entity.

This incident reflected ongoing Zionist manipulation in US domestic and foreign policy, particularly influencing Washington’s vigorous campaign to stop countries from declaring their recognition of an independent Palestinian state.

Three mass graves with 1,000 corpses found in Iraq

Iraqi officials have found three mass graves containing the bodies of about 1,000 people thought to have been executed by US soldiers during their occupation of the country.

The graves were uncovered in Iraq’s western province of al-Anbar. The remains are believed to be from victims killed by US forces during 2004 and 2005 in the city of Fallujah, located roughly 69 kilometers (43 miles) west of Baghdad.

“Security forces and rights groups found the three mass graves in Saqlawiyah and Ameriyah of Fallujah near a cemetery north of the city. They contain the remains of about a thousand people,” Deputy Chairman of Anbar’s provincial council, Sadoun Obaid al-Shaalan, said on Wednesday.

Nigerian Soldier Kills Shiite Man During Procession For Prophet Muhammad’s Daughter (A)

A Nigerian Army patrol team killed a member of the Shi’ite Islamic group, Musa Abubakar, on Sunday during a clash between the group and the patrol team in Suleja, Niger State.

The clash occurred when the group held a procession to celebrate the birth of Lady Fatima, daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUT).

The group’s spokesman, Hassan Adamu, told the News Agency of Nigeria on a telephone chat that Mr. Abubakar died hours later from the bullet wound he had sustained during the clash with the Army.

He said the Army patrol van ran into the group’s possession around the vicinity of the IBB Market, questioning the group over their activity of occupying the road and ordering them to disperse.

Mr. Adamu alleged that one of the soldiers started shooting sporadically during which Mr. Abubakar was hit by a stray bullet.

He said that the group had earlier sought and obtained a police permit before embarking on the procession, saying they had been celebrating their leader’s birthday for the past 15 years, without molestation from any quarters.

When contacted, the Deputy Director of the Nigerian Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Omale Ochaguba, confirmed the incident but insisted that the group’s procession was illegal.

The army spokesman said that during the incident, a stray bullet hit a member of the group in the abdomen, adding that the member was taken to the hospital where he later died.

In his response, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO), Richard Oguche, also confirmed the incident, saying that investigation has been opened into the fracas.

Funeral Prayer for martyr Musa Sadeeq took place on Tuesday the 7th of May 2013 in his home town Suleja, Niger state.

A Health Ministry inspector poured bleach over pots full of food in a Sudanese restaurant in Tel Aviv Sunday night.

The inspector, from the ministry’s district office for Tel Aviv, was participating in a raid by police and municipal inspectors on illegal businesses owned by African migrants. Altogether, the raid shut down 10 businesses in the city’s Neveh Sha’anan neighborhood, confiscating their equipment and welding the doors shut. The equipment was then loaded onto vans by other African migrants who had been hired as contract workers.

Many diners saw the inspector pouring bleach on the food, and one, asylum-seeker Aladin Abaker from Sudan’s Darfur region, posted photos of the incident on his Facebook page. He also described his feelings of humiliation.

“Everyone − except the destroyers − was in tears from the humiliation,” he wrote. “The waitress told us, ‘I’ve seen very harsh things in my life, like torture in Sinai, but this humiliated me more than what happened to me in Sinai.”

Abaker accused the inspector of “insensitivity to people and their culture, which sees food as a sacred thing that must be respected,” and said the raid was aimed at “embittering our lives so we’ll return to Africa ‘voluntarily.’”

Altogether, he said, more than 200 kilograms of meat, chicken and fish and over 500 prepared meals were destroyed.

The inspectors said they didn’t know where the meat came from and therefore feared for the diners’ health, Abaker wrote. “We told them: But this is the only place we’ve eaten all our meals for four years now, and none of us ever had stomach problems. Even whites eat here.”

The Health Ministry responded that inspectors had discovered “deplorable sanitary conditions, food stored under unsuitable conditions and temperatures, and food from unknown sources. In order to preserve the public’s health and that of the diners themselves, it was decided to destroy the food immediately. As part of the process of destroying the food, chemicals suitable to this purpose are used. It should be noted that this was a routine process of food destruction that is no different from other destructions of food/meat.”

Tel Aviv’s deputy city manager, Ruby Zelof, said the raids were carried out “to eradicate the undesirable phenomenon of businesses operating illegally, with sanitation and safety problems and illegal connections to electricity and water, and sales of alcoholic beverages without permits.”

History repeats itself!

“Hinda, the wife of Abu Sufyan and the mother of Muawiya, is called the “liver-eater” in the history of Islam. Ibn Ishaq says that she chewed up thew liver of Hamza but could not swallow it. But Ibn Abdul Birr says in his book, Al-Isti’aab, that she actually made a fire in the battle-field, roasted Hamza’s liver on it, and ate it!”

Ayatollah Khamenei stresses respect for women

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says “strengthening the institution of family” and “respecting and honoring women at home” are two important and immediate needs of society.

In a meeting with hundreds of women in the Iranian capital, Tehran on Saturday, the Leader said Western dialog about women is “entirely calculated and political.”

Ayatollah Khamenei added that “while this dialog currently appears to be at its peak, the path of Western dialog on women is going down the hill.”

The Leader said the masculinization of women and sexual exploitation constitute two major parts of Western dialog on women.

“Westerners seek to [force] professions that are suitable for the physical and mental status of men on women and [try to] portray this as a privilege and something to be proud of,” said the Leader.

Ayatollah Khamenei added that a high number of female intellectuals as well as cultural and political activists is a source of pride.

“From the Islamic perspective, men and women have special characteristics due to their manner of creation, but they are not different in their human rights, social and moral values, and spiritual evolution,” said the Leader.

The Leader also pointed to the important role of women in the 1979 Islamic Revolution, saying that the state media is obligated to show the real “characteristics of a Muslim woman” and the examples of pious, active women with proper hijab.
