Entertainment for Shahr Ramadan
Sallam Alykum,
I know many of us are on summer vacation and are sitting at home many hours during this blessed month. Many of us can’t recite Qur’an and duas the entire day and need some kind of entertainment. Many of the movies and shows contain sinful material which we should be avoiding to keep our fasts healthy. I suggest you watch an Iranian series called The Mukhtar Narrative which can be found English subbed at http://www.shiasource.com/drive/self/iranian-serials-and-films/the-mukhtar-narrative/
It is about Mokhtar Al-Thaqafi’s revenge for Karbala. Each episode is about 45 minutes long so it should last you to at least the end of this holy month.
Donate During This Holy Month!
Sallam Alykum,
I want to remind all the Muslims to please donate money to our fellow Muslims in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Pakistan, and elsewhere where they are poor and unable to eat much if anything at all during this Holy Month of Ramadan.
We are blessed enough to have plenty of food during iftar but millions of people have less than a loaf of bread to eat for iftar and they still fast - such pious Muslims mashAllah.
What better month to donate money than this month! This donation will help the poor, the orphans, the widows, the sick, and the elderly and it will also help you in the afterlife.
Here are some reputable charities you can use for donations. Please donate as much as you could.
(Note: ** means has proof of Ijaza From an Ayatullah)
The Holy Prophet [s] said: “When charity (alms) is delivered out of the hand of its owner, it (the thing being given) says five things: ‘At first I was perishing and you gave me life; I was insignificant and you made me great; I was an enemy and you turned me into a friend; you used to protect me then but now I will protect you up to the Day of Resurrection’.” [Al-Ithna ‘Ashariyyah, p.223]
Imam Sadiq [a] said: “By Allah, he who withholds his wealth from helping a needy believer will never taste the food of Heaven nor drink from the drink sealed there.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 75, p. 314]
The Holy Prophet [s] said: “Four things continue to reward a person even after his death; a man who dies on the true path, a good advise or knowledge given by him to someone who acts on that advice, an act of charity and a good son who prays for him and asks for forgiveness on his behalf”. Ordered Books!
Sallam Alykum, another personal rant post=]
I ordered some Islamic books so can’t wait to get them. They are some pretty big title books like Kitab al-Irshad by Sheikh Al-Mufid - one of the earliest biography works on Ahlul Bayt (as).
I also caught a cricket in my room that makes too much noise, trying to eat iftar with a cricket going off is super annoying but I found it after an hour or two!
I hope every ones fasting is going well, remember shahr Ramadan is more than just not eating; you have fasting of the eyes, ears, tongue, and hands as well. Read as much as possible to gain knowledge - don’t let a day go by wasted.
I am hoping to have a small book review by tomorrow if I can finish this reading on Imam Ali (as) inshAllah. So look forward to that=]
How are you?
